Good question, especially when the SDT itself said that it was an open and shut case. If that were so, it could have been entrusted to the office cat. However, SDT cases (especially open and shut ones) usually end up with a costs order, so why not fill your boots? I'm always amazed at the amount of costs that get awarded against a solicitor who has been struck off, suspended or heavily fined. There is nothing quite as satisfying to a bully as kicking a man when he's down, is there?
