I am asked: "did he admit his contempt?".

If you look at Judge Marson's sentencing remarks at 2.19pm on 25 May, you will see they begin as follows:

JUDGE MARSON: Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, would you stand up, please? You have admitted contempt.

At the end, the judge says:

The least sentence for the contempt is 10 months’ imprisonment. It would have been 15 months had you contested it.

In the light of this, the Court of Appeal says (para 23) "the judge proceeded on the basis that the appellant had admitted his contempt".
