'The SRA has said that where solicitors are working on a freelance basis, they would not be able to hold client money or employ people, and they would need ‘adequate and appropriate’ indemnity insurance' -

So the family sole practitioner I work for closes her regulated firm.

She opens a company which is unregulated, the company can employ people, and hold whatever money it likes, and have the absolute bare minimum PII and the SRA has no business even looking at it, as it is an unregulated company?! She doesn't have to pay for or get an accountants report but just stays on the roll saying she is freelance?

Am I missing something?
