Anon @ 14.39 - As for the board meeting, we can presumably check the write up in the Gazette to see what was said.

Oh, hang on. Silly me. The SRA decided last year that it would no longer have board meetings in public. I did look at the transparency page on the SRA website, but it was curiously silent on this point. For some reason there was only requirements listed for solicitors to be transparent, with nothing about the SRA's obligations. Must have slipped their minds.

Facetiousness aside, it would be one thing if the board meetings had always been in private. The SRA however took the decision to change the status quo, actively reducing transparency and accountability to the public and those it regulates. I don't know why I say this as if it should surprise anyone.
