I do not understand why lying should ipso facto be considered dishonest. People do lie from time to time to cover things up. It is the consequences and degree of the lying that should be considered in determining the penalty. In what other professions does lying automatically result in a loss of livelihood. Even when Cabinet Ministers lie in Parliament, they will lose their job as Ministers but not their livelihood as MPs. Equating lying automatically with dishonesty is just wrong in my opinion.
