Gunnar Beck is not an “English lawyer" but a German academic - but let that go. Mr Zanna's post is much more fairly to be described as a "rant" (his own word) than anything in Dr Beck's dispassionate article. In fact, I can’t see that Zanna even attempts to address the issues Beck sets out with such admirable clarity, or to dispute the key findings in Beck's analysis.
