You betray your ignorance again.

A prognosis is simply an estimate based on clinical findings, medical records review and experience. If someone is seen at say 6 months post-accident and the prognosis is for an 18 month recovery, that's not really all that definitive is it.

Quite often now I get offers of physio up front - gratefully accepted if it is offered as the result is often better with a quicker recovery than via the delayed, occasional and over-stretched NHS service.

I'm not sure why you refer to costs 10 years ago - that was in the middle of the madness. Go back to the late '90s for the good old days pre-CFAs etc.
