Those who control the military control the law. That's what Charles 1st found out. His trial was a show trial. There was little legal argument involved. Parliament said it had the will of the people on its side to justify regicide and Charles 1st only had God and the divine right of kings on his side. The only principle laid down in that case was laid down before men walked the earth. Its called the principle of the survival of the fittest. History is written by the victors and the law is whatever they say it is, or else!
