I read Mercer's article as an attempt (no doubt helped by lawyers) to disseminate the allegation of dishonesty without losing the privilege. Hence his reference to not regretting what he said in Parliament, rather than actually reciting it clearly in the text of his article. If so, isn't this exactly the kind of thing which he complaints about when lawyers do it?
