Perhaps Johnny Mercer was only expressing the view of everyone serving in the armed forces who put their lives on the line in times of conflict, that they deserve far more respect from a legal system which encourages totally unfounded claims to be manufactured against them and pursued in some form of witch hunt. Lawyers often wonder why the public has a bad view of the legal profession. Yes, the SDT threw out the case against Leigh Day but that doesn't change how those in the armed forces view lawyers. In fact, it only reinforces their view.
