Mr Ball, Did I criticize the EU for not intervening in Yugoslavia? No: quite the contrary. It was their political meddling, including their initial attempts to bolster up the Serbian hegemony (in the interests, no doubt, of ever-closer union), that helped to produce the disaster. As I say, you loyalists can never accept even the slightest criticism (however justified) of the object of your affections. That is what's so disturbing.
