Striking off for this is absolutely ludicrous and completely out of proportion. They could have suspended him for a year or put restrictions on his PC. To end his career over non payment of train fares ??? I understand striking off for mismanagement of monies to do with the firm or practice of being a solicitor but really ? Train fares. So if I get the wrong change in Tesco and I don't run back and tell them ooh you gave me an extra £1! I'm therefore dishonest and they should strike me off? Or a restaurant forgets to charge us for an extra glass of wine and we think "lucky me" and leave, and therefore for that heinous crime I could lose my ability to practise law? I don't remember signing up to be a vicar or saying I was a saint and I am getting sick and tired of the SRA holding us to a ridiculous moral standard as if this mythical public we are supposed to not offend were waiting to be blessed by holy water
