The objections seem to infer that the main concern is racial profiling/discrimination based on statistics. However, this is hardly the sole factor.

If it shows the types of vehicle or methods of theft (such a relay theft of keyless entry/start vehicles) at a particular time, typically involving a certain amount of criminals with a certain type of back up or transport vehicle, then the police can, for example, increase patrols in the TN1 postcode area, looking for two white males, travelling in a van, between midnight and 5am in affluent areas with modern vehicles, then surely it’s worth pursuing?

To dismiss something which may protect people and their property from becoming victims of crime because it might attribute crimes to people of a certain ancestry seems daft. One might argue that the prejudice is on behalf of the people opposed to analysis, not the raw data.

To analyse and attempt to prevent crime based off of recorded trends seems very prudent and logical. It isn’t the data’s fault if any trends are counter to police policies or human rights organisations wider objectives.
