What is required is for the SRA and the SDT to get a handle on what is necessary to "protect the public." If (as appears to be the case) they consider that anyone who has done anything anything which could be labelled "dishonest", whatever their circumstances, must be struck off then at least we would know. It would be counter-productive and and unduly harsh but at least there would be certainty.

At the moment there is a stark contrast in what the regulator says is the position and what happens in reality.

W. Edwards Deming said that, in the end, people will judge you by what you do, not by what you say. On the basis of the actions of the regulator the few dishonest principals in our profession will be feeling very secure at the moment.
