"You can't be both unaware of something and actively pursue that thing you are unaware of". Of course you can! It happens all the time. We are not always aware of our own drives, motivations and assumptions that lead us to buy into belief systems, and behave in certain ways with other people. Part of being human rather than a computer algorithm
