A further question is whether or not figures exist for appeals to BTAS against BSB administrative sanctions. After sometimes months of an admirably transparent process at the BSB in which the complainant is furnished with the barrister's complete defence, and then an eventual finding in the complainant's favour, the barrister appeals to BTAS. This process by contrast is held in secret, the complainant isn't informed that it is taking place, and is heard by two fellow barristers, one of whom is a QC, plus a lay person. (I wonder who's in the driving seat in that little threesome?) Three anonymous people, after a quick chat behind very closed doors, then announce that the BSB's transparent finding is overturned. Little more than a one sentence explanation is given to the BSB, but even this is kept hidden from the original complainant. It's a private matter between BTAS and the BSB, you see. Not very reassuring for the public, is it?
