In response to those below who have entirely missed the point, we don't have lashings, whippings, stonings, chopping of limbs, hands, and throwing off from tops of buildings, or much more lovely means of capital punishment in this country. A woman's witness evidence is indeed treated as equal to that of a man.

But there are many who believe in sharia law rather than the rule of law as civilised bodies such as the UN and ECHR understand it, who would have things otherwise.
I hope they never succeed, or we are doomed.

To suggest that any concept of Islamic sharia law is compatible with human rights is pure sophistry.
