Why is it that no new literary and fictional characters are emerging today ? Rumpole was done to death in the 80s in 3 or 4 series. James Bond, Dr Who, Sherlock Holmes et al - they've all been hammered to the point where the same characters are being portrayed in synthetic plots out of their original eras. Boring.
