There are two aspects to this. One relates to the provision of Legal Aid to areas of law - a matter of policy for the government, which could be influenced by the Law Society. The second is the remuneration for practitioners that do the work in areas of law that the government wishes to provide assistance, through Legal Aid, for members of the public, which should be influenced by the Law Society as a representative body. What exactly has been the Law Society's influence? LASPO and 20 years of no increase in the rate of remuneration. I despair...........
