Reading between the lines, it sounds like these were ex parte applications, which are usually like pushing at an open door anyway.

This does nothing to overcome the argument that video hearings are wholly unsuitable for contested matters; yet it is the availability of video hearings that the MoJ/HMCTS are using as their justification for the decimation of the court estate.

When a court closes, it can't hear any matters. The fact that the tiny minority of simple ones can be conducted by video link is of no consolation for the solicitors, witnesses and parties having to travel for hours to get to a court that is still open.
