Billy Flynn, I am not sure that these were ex parte applications. they may have been but I can see nothing in the article so confirm this?

I don't see what the problem is. Evidence in trials has been given by complainants and witnesses in criminal matters for years over a video link without any difficulty. granted the witness was generally actually in the court building, but this makes no difference in principle. we have also had witnesses give evidence from suitable places abroad and prisoners have taken part in contested bail applications remotely from prison
