I've been banging this drum for some time, 13.24. I have had a number of cases where institutional defendants were caught having fabricated various records in an effort to support liability denials. This tended to happen a lot in EL cases, but I did manage to catch out a few local authorities in PL cases as well.

I even once had the pleasure of sitting in court opposite a senior junior who had come along on behalf of his insurer client to admit to the fabrication of a letter by the insurer (written in the hopes of defeating the costs element of a PAD application), and to promise that it would never happen again!

None of my clients have ever been considered fundamentally dishonest. If only the same could be said of some of their defendants!
