I recommend draconian measures for anyone who knowingly lies under oath - be they the claimant, the defendant, the defendant's insurer or a witness for either party - in order to gain financial or other benefit in civil litigation. At present both sides seem to think that such behaviour is 'fair game'. A few short prison sentences for such people should put an end to this sort of behavior.
