Registered Charity No: 219279 (England & Wales).
The Royal British Legion has around 280,000 members and is the UK's biggest Armed Forces charity, providing practical, emotional and financial support to members of the British Armed Forces past and present, and their families. Best-known for our role as the nation’s custodian of Remembrance and the Poppy Appeal, our mission is to be the No.1 provider of welfare, comradeship, representation and Remembrance for the Armed Forces family.
The Legion has been a voice for the Service community since 1921 and, as the needs of serving and ex-Service people have changed over the years, we continue to be there to safeguard their welfare, interests and memory.
Each year, we receive thousands of calls for our help – including comradeship through hospital and home visits, support for bereaved families through the Coroner’s Inquest, support for carers of people with dementia, a handy van service to carry out basic maintenance jobs for veterans wishing to remain in their own homes and six care homes, four with dementia units, for ex-Service men and women and their partners.
We can only achieve so much because of the gifts left to us in Wills.
