People suffer facial diseases, injuries and disfigurement every day. Despite the severity of these issues, this remains a neglected research area.

Every year in the UK 6,500 people develop mouth cancer and 5 of them die every day. It is more common than cervical cancer or melanoma, and 80% of people could have been saved by earlier detection. Despite this, facial cancer research receives less funding than other types.
