Established over 175 years ago, St Andrew’s is the UK’s largest mental healthcare charity and provider of specialist NHS care.
We provide national secure services for young people, women, men and older adults with in-depth expertise in trauma, personality disorder, psychosis, autism, learning disability, brain injury and dementia.
St Andrew’s consultancy service is a one-stop-shop that draws on over 70 nationally recognised St Andrew’s experts to provide independent mental health or medico-legal reports for:
• criminal justice
• mental health review tribunals
• parole board applications
• fitness to plead
• capacity issues
• civil law
• personal injury
• child care
We provide mental health experts who are specialists in their field. These range from Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who have all completed Bond Solon expert witness training.
Each expert has established experience through assessing and caring for some of the most challenging individuals in the UK, often with offending backgrounds or complex needs.
All of our experts continue to practice in their specialist fields at St Andrew’s, enabling you to receive opinion that is based on current training and knowledge.
In the last 3 years we have provided more than 1,500 independent reports and made 120 court appearances, taking instruction from both defence and prosecution. As a charity, last year, we helped support over 2,000 people to understand, control and manage their mental health problems.
The consultancy service also offers psychiatry and psychology therapy care through its private therapy clinics and diagnostic assessments.
