A 53-year-old solicitor will next week start proceedings against his former firm for alleged age discrimination.

Tracy Fennell, who left the Bristol office of top-100 firm Foot Anstey last July, will argue that he was dismissed from the partnership on account of his age. The firm denies the allegation.

The matter is due to take place at Cardiff Employment Tribunal from next Thursday and is due to last six days.

Fennell, who is represented by south-west firm Kitsons, was with Foot Anstey for almost three years and led its corporate transaction team in Bristol.

He is now group legal counsel for mobile technology company Yuza.

It is understood Foot Anstey has instructed international firm CMS Cameron McKenna to lead the case, with Cloisters silk Caspar Glyn QC representing the firm.

In a statement, Foot Anstey said: ‘We can confirm that a case is scheduled to begin at Cardiff Employment Tribunal on 27 May and will defend our position.’
