City solicitor Tony Guise, former chair of the Commercial Litigation Association, pleaded not guilty to three charges under the Fraud Act at Redhill Magistrates' Court this morning.

Guise, a member of the Law Society civil justice committee, remained standing throughout the 10-minute hearing and elected for Crown court trial.

The next hearing will be on 8 July at Guildford Crown Court (pictured).

Update: On 17 November 2017 immediately before the start of the trial, 22 months after his original interview, the Prosecution having engaged with the evidence both for and against prosecution chose to offer no evidence. Accordingly, 'not guilty' verdicts were entered in relation to all charges. Richard Cornthwaite of Cartwright King, instructing Andrew Mitchell of 33 Chancery Lane, acted for Mr Guise.
