Just Costs Solicitors has made its most senior lateral hire in London to date, with the appointment of costs lawyer Glenn Newberry, as director and head of the London office.

Glenn joins Just Costs from Eversheds, where he was head of the firm’s costs team. Qualifying as a costs draftsman in 1995, he now has nearly 25 years’ experience in the field of costs. Glenn was manager of Eversheds’ costs team from 1998 to 2002, when he left to take up the role as head of costs at Clifford Chance.

He returned to Eversheds in May 2004.

Glenn said: ‘Having spent my career to date at two of the world’s largest law firms, this is a new and exciting challenge. I will be looking to establish Just Costs’ London office as a centre of excellence for high-end commercial work.

‘This is an opportunity to make a positive impact at a fast-expanding, dynamic business. There is so much potential in this role.’

On joining Just Costs, Glenn will be working closely with the firm’s managing director, Paul Shenton (pictured), who established and developed Eversheds’ national costs team before setting up Just Costs in 2006.

He will also be working with another former colleague, Kevin Doolan, who joined the firm earlier this year as a consultant and non-executive director having formerly been head of client Relations at Eversheds.

Paul Shenton said: ‘Glenn’s arrival is a real statement of intent for our London office and the business as a whole.

‘I’ve known Glenn since my time at Eversheds and he is well-respected throughout the costs marketplace. He was the outstanding candidate to head up our London office and we are delighted to welcome him to the firm.’

Glenn Newberry will take over the London office head role from senior associate, Monique Passalaris, who will return to client-focused work.
