A Somerset law firm has expanded its commercial property department.

Battens Solicitors has added experienced solicitor Julia Knight to its nine-strong team at its Yeovil headquarters.

She will handle all aspects of property transactions and instructions across Somerset and Dorset.

Julia, who is a member of the Devon and Somerset Law Society, joins Battens from Beviss & Beckingsale specifically to focus on commercial property.

She said: ‘The commercial property market is very much picking up, with confidence steadily improving.

‘I am looking forward to helping more clients grow their businesses through the well-established commercial property department at Battens.

‘The firm is going from strength to strength and I aim to make a valuable contribution to its continuing success.’

Julia spent four years in the Axminster office of Beviss & Beckingsale, and one year in its Honiton office. She moved to the Devon firm from Essex where she worked for Wortley Byers in Brentwood.

Rupert Vaughan, director of Battens’ commercial property department, said: ‘Julia gives us further strength in depth as we continue to expand.

‘Her wide-ranging experience and expertise will be invaluable as she helps a range of clients, from sole traders through to major blue chip companies.

‘We are pleased to welcome someone of Julia’s calibre to Battens.’

Her appointment in Battens’ commercial property department comes hot on the heels of former City of London lawyer Robert Wright, who joined in April.
