South Wales law firm Gabb and Co has appointed three associate solicitors to its commercial teams.

The move sees the promotion of commercial property lawyer Matthew Price to associate after four years at the firm, during which time he has established himself as an expert in property and real estate transactions. Joining him in the commercial property team is former Loosemores solicitor Nigel Flanagan (pictured right) who returns to Wales after practising in Cornwall and Gloucestershire.

Employment and HR specialist Rachel Stephens is the latest addition to the firm’s well-respected employment law team.

David Lloyd, the firm’s senior partner said: ‘We are enjoying a period of strategic growth during which we have successfully built on our existing client base in Wales and reached further into other parts of the UK. Our latest appointments are key to the firm’s plans for the future and we are delighted to have secured these talented associates.’

Matthew Price spent eight years at Hugh James in Cardiff before joining Gabb and Co in 2010. He acts for landlords, tenants and developers in commercial real estate matters and for private clients in the sale and purchase of farms and country estates.

He said: ‘I’m delighted to be taking up a more senior role at Gabb and Co and will be working hard to build on the firm’s reputation, both locally and in target areas in England and Wales. The property market in general appears more buoyant in 2014 and there is a sense of optimism which has seen an increase in the number of residential and commercial property transactions.’

Nigel Flanagan joins Gabb and Co having worked both in private practice in Wales and England, and in the public sector.

Nigel said: ‘The depth of expertise in niche areas of commercial and tax work within Gabb and Co is probably unique in Wales for a practice of its size. Being a part of the firm’s ambitious plans is an exciting opportunity.’

New to the firm’s long-established employment law team is associate Rachel Stephens. Rachel joins Gabb and Co from Geldards LLP, Cardiff.

Rachel said: ‘Gabb and Co has a strong reputation and a very impressive client base of local and national private companies, PLCs and individuals. I’m thrilled to be joining the firm at a pivotal time in its growth and development and look forward to working with partner Sophie Williams and associate Emma Jones to deliver an extended employment law and HR service to our clients.’
