Karina (pictured top left) is a member of bto’s top-tier insurance personal injury team whilst Jilly is a partner in the firm’s growing construction and engineering team, which is being given an additional boost with the recruitment of new associate Claire Mills from Burness Paull LLP.

Karina specialises in defending claims for various international insurers and large self-insured companies. She has significant experience of claims concerning public, employers’ and road traffic liability in the Court of Session and sheriff court.

Jilly (pictured second right) has developed a strong reputation within the construction and engineering sector. With a master of laws (LLM) in construction law, she handles complex construction and engineering claims for employers, consultants, contractors and subcontractors. She also advises clients on insurance policy interpretation and indemnity issues and presents regularly for clients and contacts on construction law related matters.

New recruit Claire (pictured right) has a decade of experience specialising in construction law. Focusing on all areas of non-contentious work, she has a well-rounded view of the market in advising a range of clients in transactions across a variety of sectors including housing, retail, leisure, public, education, health, infrastructure and waste management.

bto’s chairman, Alan Borthwick, said: ‘We are very pleased with bto’s new appointments. Both Karina and Jilly have won praise from clients for their technical ability and commercial approach to business. Their promotion is very well-deserved and I have no doubt that they will continue to serve our clients well in their new roles.

‘The arrival of Claire Mills is great news for our construction and engineering team which continues to grow in both our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices and is an important part of our business.’
