Ogier’s British Virgin Islands (BVI) office has appointed Andrew Wanambwa as partner in its dispute resolution team.

Andrew brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. He trained with Clifford Chance in London and is admitted in the UK as both a barrister and a solicitor. He has extensive experience advising major corporates, financial institutions and insolvency practitioners on a broad range of large commercial disputes.

Andrew has acted for clients in industries as diverse as accountancy, finance, telecoms, insurance, mining, oil, and transport. He spent over two years in Hong Kong where he was admitted as a solicitor in 2008.

Whilst there he worked on one of the jurisdiction’s biggest commercial disputes arising out of its largest insolvency to date.

BVI practice partner, Ray Wearmouth, said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Andrew to Ogier, his appointment will further strengthen our existing BVI team and round out our global offering very well. The BVI Commercial Court is extremely busy and adding Andrew’s bench strength to our existing pedigree bodes very well for the practice.’

The global head of dispute resolution, Edward Mackereth, said: ‘Andrew is a heavyweight litigator with an exceptional background. He is a strong addition to the global team and we are very pleased to have him on board.’
