Any of BPP law lecturer Alastair Vere-Nicoll's students who stumbled across their favourite teacher on a Sunday morning running across Hyde Park wearing a harness with a tyre strapped behind him, could be forgiven for thinking they were still under the influence of the previous night's indulgences. But what the students do not yet know is that he has been in training for a record-breaking, all-action kite surfing trip across the Antarctic.
Accompanied by a film crew in four-wheel drive vehicles that will be transmitting his every move, Mr Vere-Nicoll and a four-man team will take 60 days to traverse freezing glaciers, pulling 160lb sledges.
As you might expect, the debt finance lecturer has secured sponsorship from the likes of BPP, Burberry and Morgan Stanley. Gobsmacked students should not be too alarmed, however - he plans to be safely back in the lecture halls by January.
