It could be time to dust off the gladrags this autumn. A group of 60 College of Law students have been busy organising a ‘full length and fabulous’ event to take place at the luxurious Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London on 2 October, in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. As well as plenty of posh frocks, the event will include a charity auction conducted by comedian Russ Williams and an after-dinner speech by Garry Richardson of Alan Partridge fame. Gastronomically aware readers will know that London’s Waldorf Hilton, part of the Hilton hotel empire, bears (almost) the same name as New York’s Waldorf Astoria, the hotel that invented the famous Waldorf salad. But Obiter has no doubt that the students will be better dressed (groan). See thecharity's website for more details.
