It seems that personal injury solicitors anxiously awaiting the outcome of Lord Young of Graffham’s ’elf and safety review, which is intended to check the growth of the compensation culture, may have to wait another week. If rumours that have reached Obiter’s ears are to be believed, those in the know were originally expecting Young to publish his conclusions on 8 September, but this has now been pushed back to 14 September.
The reason? Apparently compensation is an issue close to the heart of the prime minister, who personally commissioned Young to write the report. Cameron therefore intends to be there at the launch, but a new arrival in the PM’s household has meant the event has had to be put back to take account of his paternity leave. Whether he will be bringing along Florence Rose Endellion, we will have to wait and see.
