Word reaches Obiter of yet more Bollywood action in the legal world. Elizabeth Mitchell, 34-year-old partner at York firm Wood Sherwood Solicitors, is currently preparing for her second Bollywood role after appearing in the West Yorkshire Playhouse summer production of Bollywood Jane last year, see Obiter 24 May 2007.
This time she will be shimmying her way around York’s Grand Opera House in a special production of Bollywood Tyohar! Festivals of India – which is being staged on 15 August to mark India’s 61st Independence Day.
Mitchell, who has been Bollywood dancing for about three years, says the show will feature a variety of dances and stories weaved together by an overarching narrative voice – all detailing elements of Indian history and folklore. ‘It will look a bit like the BBC’s short Bollywood clips with narrative,’ she promises.
‘I first got into Bollywood after watching it on television and thought I’d try some classes,’ she says. ‘For this show I have been rehearsing on Fridays and some Saturdays and Sundays so it has been a bit intense.’ Perfect, Obiter imagines, to ensure a heartfelt performance.
