Divorce ace: Mark Keenan, the founder of Divorce Online, has been labelled a consumer champion at the Wiltshire Business Awards. Keenan claims to cut the cost of uncontested divorces from £2,500 through a solicitor to just £65, or £170 plus court fees. Not afraid of controversy, he ran the first ever TV advert for divorce in 2000, which received coverage in 12 newspapers and nine radio stations. But success may have come at a price for the already maligned town of Swindon, where the company is based. A press release says: 'Swindon may have accidentally been labelled the divorce capital of the UK, not because the number of marriage breakdowns is disproportionately high, but because of the volume of paperwork processed by Divorce Online in the town.' Oops.
