Sixteen members of Staffordshire firm Ansons got soaked for a good cause, paddling a 40-foot dragon boat in the annual challenge at Chasewater Country Park, Lichfield. No, they didn’t capsize, but torrential rain and paddle-splashes provided the next best thing. For the second year running, trainee Clare Smith had the plum job of beating time on the drum. ‘We didn’t win but everyone had an enjoyable time, and most importantly we raised a lot of money for charity,’ said senior partner Simon James. The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Cannock, raised money for BDF Newlife and the County Air Ambulance. The Ansons team raised £1,000.
