Entering the legal Kingdom: fans of BBC spy drama 'Spooks' or ITV comedy-drama 'Cold Feet' will be familiar with Hermione Norris, who recently appeared in ITV series 'Kingdom' about a country solicitor, played by Stephen Fry. Normally a frosty blond, this time she played the saucy man-eating sister of Fry's Peter Kingdom - though she has confessed to wearing not-so-sexy flesh-coloured longjohns in the 'nude' scenes. Admirers of Norris will be alarmed to learn that they almost missed out on her acting talents altogether as she came within a hair's breadth of taking an entirely different career path - becoming a solicitor. 'I hadn't worked for six months and was on the twenties side of 30,' she told the Telegraph last week. 'I thought that if I wanted to do something else, I had better do it now'. But a solicitor? sneers the broadsheet. A bit dry, it suggests. Luckily though, the paper reports, Norris kept her nerve and 'this thinking man's pin-up was spared a lifetime of probate and conveyancing'. Thank goodness she avoided such a terrible fate. At least solicitors don't normally wear flesh-toned leggings... We hope.
