Ken Dickinson of NAS Advocates is not the only fighting-fit solicitor of, shall we say, 'mature years' (see [2008] Gazette, 15 May, 8). Adam Wershof, a 46-year-old litigation lawyer at London firm Wiseman Lee, says he gets his kicks from 'fighting off a five-man attack at ju-jitsu training'. As well as helping him wind down from the worries of work, he says ju-jitsu helps to control the 'natural aggression of a litigator'. Not only that, he tells Obiter he is also rather useful when dealing with the odd 'awkward caller' at reception. 'We're based in the East End and get the occasional drunk or drug addict causing trouble,' he says. 'I use my gentle negotiating skills to get them out the door.'
