There are, we doubt, many in the legal profession who have declined to duet with Whitney Houston during a karaoke evening in a Sultan’s private nightclub. But ex-footballer Jim Pearson (second right) – who played for St Johnstone, Everton and Newcastle in the 1970s and is now a consultant at Bradford law firm Last Cawthra Feather – can impress his new colleagues with the tale. Mr Pearson and fellow ex-Scottish international John Hendrie (second left), were consultants at Leeds-based Nelson & Co, but have been transferred along with solicitor Stephen Lownsbrough (right), who heads the team. Simon Stell, managing partner at Last Cawthra Feather, is extending the welcome. In an interview with the Yorkshire Post last year, Mr Pearson explained that his encounter with the American diva came while he was coaching the Brunei national team, where he became friendly with the Sultan. He apparently doesn’t do duets but one might have to question his musical tastes – in the article, he lists ‘The Living Years’ by Mike and the Mechanics as his favourite song.
