Exciting news from the London offices of Russell Jones & Walker, where five members of staff ‘are beating the recent heatwave by cycling to work’ instead of using other modes of transport where the heat can become unbearable. And, erm, that’s pretty much it. The five were apparently inspired to begin cycling to work by one of their clients - CTC, the national cyclists’ organisation - and were admirably rallying support for last week’s national bike week. The bottom of the press release notes that Russell Jones & Walker has ‘more than 500 staff’, so there is clearly a long way to go. In the meantime, we look forward to a press release celebrating how ‘134 members of staff arrived at work on the Tube this week’. The hardy five, pictured, from left, are Paul Kitson (Obiter has always enjoyed the fact that Mr Kitson, a sports lawyer of some renown, shares his name with a professional footballer), Rod Fletcher, Susan Freeburn, Ivor Adair and Tristan Hallam.
