What is it about firms based in Leamington Spa that they are so keen to associate themselves with worlds far more glamorous than the law? Obiter recently profiled Amphlett Chatterton, which sponsored the 10th Women's World Bowls Championships (see [2004] Gazette, 16 September, 12). Now we have Ollerenshaws revealing - in a press release innovatively headed 'Where legal eagles dare to be different' - that it has 'given a new twist to corporate hospitality by hosting an event with a difference'. Around 150 guests were treated to a specially commissioned show by Keith Donnelly in the Bridge House Theatre in Warwick. 'Who he?' we hear you all cry. Mr Donnelly - here serenading (left to right) partners Tim Ollerenshaw, Debbie Anderson and Jamie Strong - is none other than a stand-up comedian who writes for, er, Jasper Carrott, the Midlands funnyman. 'This is not your usual law firm seminar or corporate hospitality event,' said managing partner Tim Ollerenshaw, 'but then we are not your usual law firm.' Obiter wouldn't dare disagree.
