From now on, Obiter wants to see more musicians on this page. Like the family departments of Cumbrian law firms Temple Heelis and Thomson Wilson Pattinson which, in the spirit of ‘give a little bit’, took the idea of collaborative law one step further by organising and funding a live music night in aid of Kendal Child Contact Centre.

They were helped out by saxophonist John Helliwell of 70s rock outfit Supertramp, playing some of his own hits. And head of family at Temple Heelis, John Osborne (pictured in light-blue check shirt), belted out two hours of classics with his band New Tricks. Tunes from the Beatles, the Stones and Van Morrison were the logical songs.

Did playing with Helliwell make him just another nervous wreck? ‘A little, but not too much,’ Osborne said. A jolly night was had before concertgoers decided to take the long way home. Oh, and if you can find the six Supertramp song titles in this article, you need to get out more.
