National press interest in a ‘haunted’ solicitor’s office isn’t spooking Sarfraz Khan, marketing and managing consultant at Birmingham firm LAC. ‘We have no intention of moving or changing our address, because we’ve been very successful,’ he tells Obiter. ‘We haven’t lost a single case yet.’

The story of supernatural goings-on at the office – number 666 Washwood Heath Road – made a big splash in the Daily Mail’s Halloween edition. The paper reported that the Victorian premises, scene of a recent tragic death, have suffered a spate of electrical and IT problems, as well as visits from a poltergeist ‘who moves stationery around and makes mysterious noises’.

Obiter is no stranger to phenomena such as computer crashes and self-propelled stationery, but remains a sceptic about their causes. Unless readers have any more spine-chilling tales to relate?
