Obiter is beginning to think that HRH Prince Charles is a bit of a fan of solicitors. He certainly seems to hang out with them quite a lot. Although it could also be said that he appears to have the measure of the profession. Last month we reported on his royal highness hob-nobbing with lawyers from Richardson & Co in Leeds – when Charles joked that he had never heard of solicitors doing work for nothing. Obiter has since received this snap of HRH at Buckingham Palace with Richard Battrick, senior partner at Spicketts Battrick Law Practice in Cardiff, at an event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Apparently the heir to the throne was again in jocund mood. When Battrick explained that he had been involved in securing a large inheritance due to the college from a Canadian estate, which was proving rather difficult and drawn out to secure, the Prince quipped ‘more like dragging it out so as to justify your fees’. Has the royal household been hit with a large legal bill, one wonders?
