IBA supremos used the Auckland conference as the launch pad for the organisation's revised structure. A four-year review has produced a consolidated look that sees a number of divisions whittled down to two. Of course, this is of interest only to the most committed of IBA hacks, apart from the fact that it rather embarrassingly coincided with a significant drop in the number of delegates attending this year's conference - down to fewer than 2,500 from last year's 3,000 in San Francisco. Much mumbling about the long travel distances to New Zealand being the cause. All eyes will soon turn to the registration numbers for Prague next year.
