Back to the subject of fast women in the legal profession. Obiter readers will recall that marathon-running Deborah Gibbins, who runs her own firm in Basildon, wanted to know if she was the fastest lady in the law given her 3hrs 18 mins 8 secs performance in the Blackpool marathon on 27 April [see Obiter, 8 May 2008, 8].

Well it looks like Deborah's been pipped to the post. Sophie Dawson-Kohary, a 29-year-old solicitor at Oxfordshire firm Hedges Solicitors, ran the London Marathon last month in an impressive 3hrs 5 mins 22 seconds. Sophie had an elite start place in the event after qualifying races, and started alongside professionals including Paula Radcliffe.

Can you beat Sophie or is she officially the fastest lady lawyer?

This item clearly has legs, and could run and run, we reckon.
