Physical, cerebral and now gastronomical – no challenge is too great for brand and reputation management lawyer, Denzil Gunner. The solicitor, from London firm Atkins, is marking his 30th birthday with a series of challenges to raise money for charities the British Heart Foundation and the Strokes Association. He swam Alcatraz Bay in mid-winter and found it ‘bracing’. He wrote a piece in The Independent newspaper and found the act of creation ‘stimulating’. And earlier this month he scoffed 41 mince pies in just 10 minutes, becoming British champion in the process and finding the experience ‘not so much fulfilling as filling’. He skipped supper that evening, preferring ‘to burn off a few calories in the gym’. Otherwise, he is undaunted, having run a marathon in Athens, completed a triathlon in New York and rolled a cheese in Gloucestershire. Oh, to be 30 again.
